For most of our individual clients, and particularly those who are starting a new relationship with our firm, Clingen Callow & McLean’s policy is to require the payment of a retainer upon the commencement of legal services.
The amount of any retainer is highly dependent on the services we are engaged to provide. For instance, because of the inherently high cost of litigation, the representation of an individual in lawsuit requires payment of a retainer in the minimum of $5,000. Other matters, such as the preparation of an estate plan or providing advice on an employment contract, may require payment of a retainer in a lesser amount.
Each of our attorneys will discuss retainers with you, including how the retainer will be applied on a monthly basis.
